EIT Urban Mobility is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union and Europe's largest network for transport innovation in cities. We connect public and private actors and provide them with access to markets, talent, finance and knowledge. Using cities as living labs, our industry, research and university partners will demonstrate how new technologies can work to solve real problems in real cities by transporting people, goods and waste in smarter ways. Horizon Europe, Digital Europe. The Horizon Lab programme also manages EIT Urban Mobility's participation in Horizon Europe and other European open innovation projects. The Horizon Lab Controller will report to the Head of Horizon Lab for day-to-day line management. S/he will focus primarily on overseeing the Horizon Lab’s financial operations, planning, and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting and reporting, as well as managing the full financial lifecycle of EU research & innovation projects, mainly under the programmes Horizon Europe and Digital Europe. As EIT Urban Mobility continues to attract external funding, the team ensures all contractual obligations of awards are met with quality content on time and on budget. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Support the Head of Horizon Lab in budget planning, financial forecasting, and performance analysis, providing insights on variances, risks, and corrective actions. Grant Lifecycle Financial Management and Budget Monitoring: Manage the financial aspects of EU-funded projects across the full grant lifecycle, from grant agreement preparation to project implementation and closure, ensuring compliance with grant conditions and timelines, including the tracking, updating, and monitoring of project budgets and expenditures, ensuring financial discipline and timely identification of deviations. Project Budgeting & Costing: Prepare accurate and compliant budgets for new project proposals, ensuring all eligible cost categories are fully captured and aligned with the project scope, funding scheme, and Horizon Europe rules. Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial reports for Horizon Europe projects, including European Commission reporting and consolidated actuals reporting to headquarters. Provide financial guidance on project-related calls and grant management, including Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP), advising beneficiaries on eligibility, reporting, and compliance requirements. Financial Compliance & Governance: Ensure all financial transactions and project expenditures comply with EU Financial Regulations, Horizon Europe rules, and internal financial procedures. Audits & Internal Controls: Support internal and external audits and maintain robust financial controls to mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks. Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the financial interface with Operations, collaborating closely with Finance, Legal, Technology, and PMO teams to ensure coherent and compliant project delivery. An ideal candidate will strive to generate positive environmental and social impact in line with EIT Urban Mobility’s mission. Written and spoken English (C1) Strong proven understanding of EU financial regulations and Horizon Europe/Digital Europe rules Proven ability in budget preparation, monitoring, forecasting, expenditure tracking and audit support Participate in webinars and online courses to enhance knowledge and skills.
