Position : Packaging Buyer Job Summary : We are seeking an experienced Packaging Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in packaging procurement, specifically in bottles and rigid packaging, with a proven ability to manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and optimize costs. As a Packaging Buyer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of packaging materials critical to our manufacturing processes. Responsibilities : Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for packaging materials, focusing on bottles and rigid packaging. Identify and qualify suppliers capable of meeting quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable terms. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality control, and logistics to ensure packaging requirements are met. Manage supplier relationships and conduct regular performance reviews to drive continuous improvement. Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for innovation and cost optimization. Analyze spend data and develop reports to track savings and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all sourcing activities. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast demand and ensure adequate inventory levels of packaging materials. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. 3+ years of experience in packaging procurement, preferably within the chemical industry. Strong understanding of packaging materials, particularly bottles and rigid packaging. Proven track record of managing a significant spend volume (e.g., $40M+ annually). Demonstrated experience in supplier identification, selection, and negotiation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using tools such as Excel or procurement software. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and sustainability considerations related to packaging materials is a plus.
