Position: Packaging Buyer

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Packaging Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in packaging procurement, specifically in bottles and rigid packaging, with a proven ability to manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and optimize costs. As a Packaging Buyer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of packaging materials critical to our manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for packaging materials, focusing on bottles and rigid packaging.
  • Identify and qualify suppliers capable of meeting quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality control, and logistics to ensure packaging requirements are met.
  • Manage supplier relationships and conduct regular performance reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for innovation and cost optimization.
  • Analyze spend data and develop reports to track savings and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all sourcing activities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast demand and ensure adequate inventory levels of packaging materials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in packaging procurement, preferably within the chemical industry.
  • Strong understanding of packaging materials, particularly bottles and rigid packaging.
  • Proven track record of managing a significant spend volume (e.g., $40M+ annually).
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier identification, selection, and negotiation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using tools such as Excel or procurement software.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and sustainability considerations related to packaging materials is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
