Country Controller (Interim/Autonomo – 6 Months) Location: Fully Remote in Spain (other locations considered) Reporting to: European Controller Scope: Spain & United Kingdom Client: Fortune 500 company Start: Immediate The Opportunity Working for a Fortune 500, you will drive real business impact across Spain and the UK while having direct access to a broader European and global finance world-class organization. This is a mission for a senior accounting professional who is fully operational from day one, able to navigate a multinational environment, and confident managing month-end close, VAT topics, CAPEX, statutory and GAAP-related requirements, and Shared Services Center coordination. What You Will Do • Drive the Spain & UK month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with tight deadlines and strong accuracy. • Lead local statutory and regulatory compliance across Spanish GAAP and US GAAP/IFRS frameworks. • Perform and review general ledger activities, ensuring correct postings, reconciliations, variance analysis, and alignment with internal controls. • Coordinate with the Shared Services Center to ensure correct postings, reconciliations, and accuracy along with issue resolution. • Assist in statutory accounts preparation and support the collection of data for tax filings (including VAT). • Serve as primary contact for the European controller and other internal stakeholders. • Guarantee compliance with internal processes, accounting policies, and financial controls. What You Bring • Proven expertise in Spanish GAAP, and US GAAP or IFRS. • Big 4 experience – highly preferred. • Experience in Real Estate or Data Center environments — strongly preferred. • Bachelor's + Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar (recognized qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CA are an advantage). • Strong hands-on accounting experience, able to roll up your sleeves and perform autonomously. • Proven success with timely month-end close reporting in a multinational context. • Background working with Shared Services Centers (SSC). • Hands-on experience with tax and VAT data collection. • Strong skills in timing, prioritization, and managing CAPEX. • Fluent in English and Spanish.
