What you'll be getting up to: Collaborate with Sportsbook stakeholders and Architects to gain a strong understanding of the current platform architecture and help shape the future state. Contribute to the evaluation of platforms and components to assess technical and tactical benefits Drive the hands-on implementation of technical solutions, ensuring alignment with architectural direction and delivery standards. Support the definition of a strategic technical roadmap alongside Architects, that meets the needs of the business, growth and scale projections: Contribute to modularisation efforts to support rapid releases and flexibility Help identify architectural bottlenecks and performance concerns Promote high availability and redundancy through sound engineering practices Define and support maintainability goals Assist in executing technical uplift and continuous improvement programs: Encourage good development practices and design patterns Help ensure API consistency and compatibility Contribute to architectural documentation and standards adoption Align with CI/CD and governance practices led by Architects Understand and adapt solutions to the changing needs and technical environments, from scale to security to process and procedure. Lead by example, driving high standards in implementation, collaboration, and engineering quality Leverage your experience at the enterprise level to help bridge the gap between business needs and technical requirements. Stay current with trends and technologies in the Sportsbook domain to help inform engineering decisions and long-term strategy. Seek to capitalise on the opportunities to improve productivity, reduce time to market whilst maintaining focus on our customers and products. Anticipate barriers to progress and contribute proactively to solutions. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any related technical field. 10+ years architecture design and/or development experience A proven track record of delivering quality solutions with a robust technical design for the enterprise. Experience of continuous integration/delivery. Experience developing for high transaction environments Ability to write and interpret technical documentation Strong working knowledge of web services including REST, JSON, Soap etc Strong front end development skills including with XHTML; CSS; JavaScript. Expert knowledge of Java and open source software (e.g. Spring Framework) Advanced knowledge of SQL, preferably with Oracle databases Passion for writing high quality, rock solid software Previously worked on large scale multi-threaded projects Demonstrable knowledge of Maven and Linux Experience building highly transactional, high volume distributed server applications Knowledge of JVM monitoring and performance tuning Java applications, as well as troubleshooting issues in production Knowledge of Asynchronous Messaging (RabbitMQ, Kafka or JMS) Nice-to-have: experience developing back office trading tools using GWT/Vaadin, SWT, Swing or JavaFX Experience in web acceleration technologies (e.g. CDN, compression, web-sockets etc.) Experience in designing deployment infrastructure (Loadbalancers, grid databases etc.) Knowledge of containerisation platforms (e.g. Kubernetes, Mesos, Docker swarm etc.) Good understanding of Security design. General Knowledge of Infrastructure (Storage, WAF, network design) An understanding of solutions delivery and how the products you will be driving forward will be built, deployed and tested. Experience with application load and performance tuning Exposure to virtualisation under VMWare and its suite of products, experience with other virtualisation products will be beneficial. Designing products that focus on SOA, SaaS. Working with TCP/IP, load balancing technologies and other networking fundamentals. Experience using web based task management and resource allocation tools such as JIRA or TFS. Previous experience working with offshore development teams.
