JOB TITLESecondary Philosophy Teacher JOB PURPOSETo teach classes of pupils ensuring that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.Teaching Philosophy to ESO (Years 8-11), IB Diploma, and National Baccalaureate (Years To be flexible and adjust to the needs of an expanding school, actively contributing to its development and growth. REPORTING TOIB Diploma Coordinator Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks Inspire, engage and motivate students; collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents Implement agreed school policies and guidelines Plan appropriately to meet the needs of all pupils, through differentiation of tasks Set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for pupils' learning Provide a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed appropriately by all pupils Promote the general progress and well-being of individual students and alert appropriate staff to problems experienced by students Keep appropriate and efficient records, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and term planning in line with school policy Report to parents on the development, progress and attainment of pupils in line with the school assessment strategy Participate in meetings which relate to the school's leadership, curriculum, administration and organisation Lead, organise and direct support staff within the classroom Participate in the performance management system for the review of your own performance, and that of other teachers as required Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school Planning, Teaching and Class ManagementTeach students so that they achieve the best they can by: Planning effective teaching programmes which provide exemplary learning opportunities within and beyond the classroom, including the use of digital technology Positively targeting and supporting individual learning needs Maintaining high levels of behaviour and discipline in accordance with the school policies Establishing a purposeful and safe learning environment Using modern technology to enhance learning opportunities Making use of Nord Anglia Education Global Campus online and other NAE opportunities for collaboration, innovation and competition Tracking, Assessment, Recording, Reporting Make effective use of formative and summative assessment to plan challenging learning opportunities for all students Monitor and record students' learning to ensure they remain on track to achieve challenging targets Report on progress to appropriate stakeholders Other Requirements Support the life of the school beyond the classroom Contribute positively to the morale and community spirit in the school Work effectively in different teams Always operate within the stated policies and practices of the school Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of good practice in teaching techniques and subject specialisms Keep knowledge of wider curriculum developments up to date Participate in residential weeks and trips as appropriate Contribute to whole school learning initiatives during term Assist in whole school marketing initiatives and contribute to the growth of the school Manage your own effective personal and professional development as part of the Company's commitment to invest in staff as the key resource in the organisation Ensure that you meet statutory responsibilities and Company policies with regard to Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding and other relevant legislation, policies and procedures Any other appropriate duties as allocated by members of the school Leadership team Commitment to Personal and Professional Development Participate in and fully engage with the school's performance management and appraisal process Demonstrate continuous professional and personal development through the identification and implementation of individual development plans arising from company and school performance management and appraisal processes Contribute to wider engagement of colleagues in the marketing and admission function giving support and willingly sharing ideas and materials to promote this Commitment and engagement to the following Nord Anglia Education and Professional Values and Dispositions: Seeking and maximizing opportunity within the organisation Recognizing and pursuing impact within your role Encouraging and accepting leadership within the organization Nurturing and modelling respect in all professional and personal interactions Complying with legal, contractual and company requirements Any other appropriate duties as assigned by the Principal of the School or as directed by the Chief Executive Officer or their Regional Representative PERSON SPECIFICATIONS Qualifications/Training Qualified to Philosophy degree level or above (Essential) Qualified Teacher status (Essential) IB/IMYC teacher training completed (Desirable) Experience / Knowledge Minimum 2 years teaching experience (Essential) Spanis (Native level or equivalent fluency) (Essential) Effective teaching and learning styles across the whole Secondary age range (Essential) Working in partnership with parents (Essential) At Nord Anglia Education we are committed to providing a world-class, safe, happy environment in which children and young people can thrive and learn.
