Solutions Architecture Engineer – Media Systems Olympic Channel Services (Olympics.com) is the global destination where fans discover, engage, and share the power of sport and the Olympic Games all year round through original programming, news, live sports events, and highlights in 12 languages. About the position We are seeking a talented and motivated Solutions Architect to join our Technology and Operations team. This role aligns technical solutions with business objectives and production workflows. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering foundation and expertise in media, OTT, and digital environments. Responsibilities include designing scalable, innovative solutions, translating operational needs into technical requirements, collaborating with stakeholders, supporting AI initiatives, managing projects, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring impactful integrated solutions. Duties & Responsibilities Act as the primary technical liaison between internal clients and engineering teams, translating business needs into actionable technical solutions and contributing to implementation. Design and propose architectures for media workflows, cloud‑based tools, and production systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and business alignment. Collaborate with the Systems Engineering Manager to deliver tools and platforms that enhance production efficiency and reliability. Lead technical discovery sessions and requirements gathering with stakeholders across Editorial, Archive, Data Analytics, and Software Development. Engage with and support AI initiatives within TechOps, coordinating project execution and integration. Evaluate and recommend technologies aligning with strategic goals, including cloud platforms, automation tools, media processing systems, and AI frameworks. Oversee solution implementation, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Provide technical documentation and training to ensure smooth adoption and operational readiness of new systems. Support continuous improvement of existing platforms and workflows through analysis, optimisation, and innovation. Participate in vendor evaluations and integration planning for third‑party systems and services. Ensure compliance with security, scalability, and performance standards across all solutions. Prepare and present progress reports and strategic updates on key initiatives, including AI‑related projects, to upper management. Skills, Requirements & Qualifications Education University degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or Broadcasting/Technology field. Experience & Technical Skills 5–8 years of system engineering and/or software development with at least one scripting or programming language. 2–3 years of experience managing vendors / service providers. Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices. Previous experience with cloud infrastructures (PaaS, IaaS, CaaS). Project managing the design and implementation of scalable, secure, resilient solutions. Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, ELK stack). Knowledge or experience in: API design and development. Programming languages: Python, Java, JavaScript (Node.js), Ruby, PHP, C#, Go. Deep understanding of RESTful services, HTTP methods, status codes and stateless communication. Authentication and authorisation techniques (OAuth, JWT). Data encryption and securing API endpoints against common vulnerabilities (SQL injection, XSS). Client‑server architecture. Knowledge & Technical Skills Strong communication skills, especially in English. Experience in media / broadcast / digital environments. Understanding of media asset management, transcoding workflows, and live production systems. Understanding of cloud architecture principles and deployment strategies. Knowledge of media formats, codecs, streaming protocols (HLS, DASH). Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation), container orchestration (Kubernetes). Other Skills Excellent stakeholder management, translating technical concepts into business language. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, proactive and solution‑oriented mindset. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Experience working across cross‑functional teams (engineering, editorial, operations). Additional Consideration Cloud Architecture certifications/training desirable (e.g., AWS Professional, MCSA: Cloud Platform). Project Management skills and/or certifications from both traditional and modern methodologies (Kanban, Agile).
