About the position:
We are on the lookout for a skilled and versatile Solutions Architect to join our Technology and Operations team. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between engineering and internal client needs, ensuring that technical solutions are aligned with business objectives and production workflows.

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, combined with a deep understanding of media, OTT, and digital environments. This person will be responsible for designing and delivering scalable, efficient, and innovative solutions that support our production, editorial, and operational teams.

This position requires interaction and alignment with different stakeholders, jointly elaborating the concepts and assuring needs are properly integrated within the rest of the ecosystem. Key to the role is understanding the content and operational needs, translating these into technical requirements for the Technology teams, and actively contributing to the design and implementation of the resulting solutions.

In addition to core responsibilities, the Solutions Architect will play a key role in supporting the Artificial Intelligence initiatives within the TechOps area. This includes managing AI-related projects, collaborating with internal teams such as Data Analytics, Editorial, and Software Development, and coordinating with external partners to ensure successful delivery and integration of AI-driven solutions. The role may also involve preparing and presenting progress reports and strategic updates on these initiatives to upper management.

The position is part of the Technical Operations and Technology department which collaborates with Editorial, Product, Development teams, Archive, and Data as well as external partners and brands.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between internal clients and engineering teams, translating business needs into actionable technical solutions and actively contributing to their implementation.
  • Design and propose architectures for media workflows, cloud-based tools, and production systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with business goals.
  • Collaborate with the Systems Engineering Manager to deliver tools and platforms that enhance production efficiency and reliability.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions and requirements gathering with stakeholders across departments, including Editorial, Archive, Data Analytics, and Software Development.
  • Manage and support Artificial Intelligence initiatives within the TechOps area, coordinating project execution and integration with internal and external partners.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies that align with strategic goals, including cloud platforms, automation tools, media processing systems, and AI frameworks.
  • Oversee the implementation of solutions, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical documentation and training to ensure smooth adoption and operational readiness of new systems.
  • Support the continuous improvement of existing platforms and workflows through analysis, optimisation, and innovation.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations and integration planning for third-party systems and services.
  • Ensure compliance with security, scalability, and performance standards across all solutions.
  • Prepare and present progress reports and strategic updates on key initiatives, including AI-related projects, to upper management when required.

Skills, Requirements & Qualifications:

  • University degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in system engineering and/or software development in a minimum of one scripting or programming language.
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructures (PaaS, IaaS, CaaS).
  • Experience in media/broadcast/digital environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of media asset management, transcoding workflows, and live production systems

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles and deployment strategies.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of media formats, codecs, streaming protocols (e.g., HLS, DASH).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Grafana, ELK stack).

Soft Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business language.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with a high level of autonomy and accountability.
  • Comfortable working across cross-functional teams including engineering, editorial and operations.

Additional Consideration will be given to individuals with expertise in:

  • Cloud Architect certifications/training desirable (e.g., AWS Professional, MCSA: Cloud Platform).
  • Project Management certification/formation desirable (e.g., PMP, PMI).
  • Project Management skills, preferably from both traditional methodologies and modern approaches (i.e., Kanban, and Agile frameworks), with the ability to adapt and integrate best practices across diverse project environments.

Knowledge or versed in:

  • API design and development expertise
  • Programming languages e.g. Python, Java, JavaScript ), Ruby, PHP, C# and Go.
  • GraphQL.
  • Deep understanding of RESTful services, HTTP methods, status codes and stateless communication.
  • Authentication and authorisation techniques (OAuth, JWT).
  • Data encryption and securing API endpoints against common vulnerabilities (i.e. SQL injection and XSS).
  • Understanding of client-server architecture.
