Middle School Math Teacher

Position: Middle School Math Teacher -- Tentative Position Starting date: August 2026Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Math teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students and nurture a passion for the study of mathematics. This role involves developing engaging unit and lesson plans, promoting teamwork, and encouraging personal growth in students. This position requires a creative and engaging approach to curriculum development, effective classroom management, a standards-based approach to instruction and assessment, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.Primary Responsibilities Teach a combination of full year Math 8, Math 7 and/or Math 6 classes.The position may also require the teaching of a Middle School semester exploratory class.Serve as a grade level advisor and contribute positively to the Middle School advisory program.Engage in the on-going development and implementation of a comprehensive math curriculum for Middle School students.Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and understanding of math concepts and involve students in the assessment and feedback process.Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress.Stay current with best practices in math education.Foster a safe and respectful classroom environment by establishing clear expectations for behavior.Adapt lessons and activities to accommodate diverse learning styles, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to participate and succeed.Encourage students to set personal goals and develop plans to achieve them, promoting self-discipline and responsibility.Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and respect among students.Actively participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, department meetings and professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and contribute to the overall school community.Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and committees to contribute to the overall school community and foster a sense of school pride.Preferred Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree in Math.Valid teaching certification for Middle School Math education.Proven experience teaching Math to Middle School students.Knowledge and understanding of higher level mathematics, especially at the high school and IB level.Leadership experience in Middle and/or Upper level mathematics department collaboration and curriculum development.Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.Experience in using Understanding by Design to develop curricular unit maps.Experience using a standards-based approach and performance-based assessments.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and a growth mindset.Passion for fostering a love of learning and critical thinking skills among Middle School students.Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.If you are an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with a passion for inspiring young minds, we invite you to apply for the Middle School mathematics position at our school.Additional Information Working hours: 8:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.Vacation and time off: As per school holidaysWe offer a competitive salary and benefits package as determined by the Board.#J-18808-Ljbffr
