You are fluent in both French and English is expected. You have a passion for political analysis and strong writing skills are essential.What You’ll DoMonitor key French policy debates, legislative developments, and political trendsProduce sharp, concise summaries and in-depth analyses of policy issues and legislative filesConduct research on political, policy, and regulatory topics at the French national levelDeliver high-quality written reports that translate complex legislative and regulatory language into clear, actionable insightsContribute to custom analysis services, including on-demand research briefings on French political and policy developmentsCollaborate with other analysts in the POLITICO Research & Analysis Division, including both the policy and data teams, to deliver comprehensive insightsWhat We’re Looking ForDeep expertise in French politics and policymaking – strong grasp of the French legislative process, key institutions, and political dynamicsAnalytical thinking – ability to synthesize complex policy issues and assess political risks and opportunitiesExceptional writing skills – clear, persuasive, and audience-focused communication in EnglishProject management skills – ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work independentlyFluency in English and French – other EU languages are a plusAdditional AssetsFamiliarity with EU policymaking and institutions is an advantageGood command of spoken and written English (for effective communication with international colleagues and stakeholders)Ideal QualificationsMaster’s degree in a relevant field (political science, public policy, law, international relations, etc.)Three or more years of experience in French policy research, consultancy, or journalismOther Notes & RequirementsSuccessful applications will be part of a freelance pool and work with POLITICO on a project‑by‑project basis.
