Postdoctoral Researcher in aerosol optical properties (R2)Join the Barcelona Supercomputing Center as a Postdoctoral Researcher focused on the optical properties of mineral dust. The role supports the DUSTIMPACT project, working at the interface of observations, theory and modelling to reduce uncertainties in dust radiative effects and their climate impact.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and refine parameterisations of dust optical properties (absorption, scattering, SSA, asymmetry) as functions of particle size, mineralogy, shape and mixing state.Translate observational constraints from in‑situ and remote measurements into model‑ready optical property datasets.Integrate experimentally constrained optical properties into dust and atmospheric composition models.Analyse dust optical measurements (e.g., Aethalometer, nephelometer, DNAAP configurations) and support interpretation of size‑resolved and composition‑resolved observations.Actively participate in coordination activities across work packages and institutions, and contribute to internal project meetings, data workshops and international collaborations.QualificationsEducation: PhD in Atmospheric Sciences, Physics, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or closely related field.Essential Experience: Proven experience in aerosol or dust optical property modelling or analysis; strong background in atmospheric data analysis; experience with scientific programming (Python, FORTRAN etc.); familiarity with atmospheric data formats and tools (NetCDF, CDO, NCO).Additional Experience: Experience with dust or aerosol modules in atmospheric or climate models; knowledge of radiative
