Overview Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, with Ubuntu widely used in cloud, data science, AI, and IoT initiatives. This product management track focuses on Cloud Native and requires leadership, communication, and technical vision to drive product strategy for tomorrow's business needs.Responsibilities Lead the product lifecycle, reviewing priorities and goals for assigned products.Collaborate closely with engineering leads to oversee development processes.Work with cross‑functional teams—engineering, design, marketing, sales—to align priorities and drive business execution.Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities and ensure alignment with Canonical’s vision.Coach, mentor, and train the product team.Establish KPIs for project status reporting and communicate progress across the organization.Drive execution excellence through continuous feedback and improvement.Contribute to strategy development to build and maintain high‑performing teams.Support the sales team by reviewing customer feedback and participating in customer meetings.Qualifications Seasoned product management experience in technical domains related to open source software or cloud native environments.Experience designing or managing software operations for large‑scale distributed systems.Strong understanding of cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker containers.Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise security and compliance requirements in software operations.Proven ability to lead technical teams and drive their execution to excellence.Passion for writing about technologies and experience in developer marketing.Strong work ethic and interests aligned with the open source philosophy.Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.Nice‑to‑Have Experience with CNCF projects, identity, or observability systems.Intellectual curiosity and passion for the future of technology.Strong sense of ownership over product and team success.Problem‑solving ability, out‑of‑the‑box thinking, and visionary leadership.What We Offer Distributed work environment with twice‑yearly in‑person team sprints.Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.Annual compensation review and performance‑driven bonuses or commissions.Recognition rewards and holiday leave.Maternity and paternity leave, plus an Employee Assistance Programme.Opportunity to travel to new locations and meet colleagues.Priority Pass for travel and upgrades for long‑haul company events.About Canonical Canonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source, publishing Ubuntu—one of the most important open source projects—and driving innovation in AI, IoT, and cloud.
