You will work closely with Data and Frontend Engineers, while contributing to APIs and infrastructure that support it.For more insight into the technologies used by the engineering team at Clarity AI, please explore our Tech Stack.What You’ll Be DoingDesigning, developing, and maintaining resilient services with a focus on simplicity, scalability, reliability, and performance.Writing high-quality, well-tested code using Java.Implementing comprehensive automated testing to ensure the quality and reliability of our products.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful features.Participating in the design and architecture of our evolving platform.Defining and enforcing API contracts and standards for internal and external consumption.Proactively monitoring and optimizing the health and performance of production services.Troubleshooting and resolving bugs and issues in a timely manner.Championing best practices for code and testing.Driving improvements in our development processes using Lean and Agile principles.Managing and scaling products, ensuring they are meeting the evolving needs of the business.The role is based in SpainWay of Working: Remote / HybridWhat You’ll Need5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Backend Engineer.Solid understanding of software engineering principles and best practices (e.g., clean code, SOLID principles, simple design, design patterns).Experience with continuous delivery/deployment, feature toggle-driven development, and a "you build it, you run it" mindset.Deep expertise in the Java ecosystem (e.g., Spring Boot/Micronaut, Gradle) or Kotlin, focusing on performance-critical backend applications.Advanced knowledge of SQL language.Expertise with Augmented Programming tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, etc.).Proven experience in building and maintaining services in a cloud environment.Experience with data modeling and schema design.A strong testing mindset and a commitment to writing automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end).Proven expertise in deploying, monitoring (e.g., Datadog), and scaling services on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) using tools like Docker and Kubernetes.A product-oriented mindset and an interest in building products that solve real business problems.Ability to collaborate effectively in diverse teams, using a variety of communication methods.Take ownership of your work, focus on delivering impactful solutions, and proactively solve problems.Curious, adaptable, and motivated to contribute to a collaborative environment.Decisive and action-oriented, able to make rapid decisions even when they are short of information.Highly motivated, independent, and deeply passionate about sustainability and impact.Excellent oral and written English communication skills (minimum C1 level – proficient user).Solid understanding of various data storage technologies (e.g., relational databases, NoSQL, data warehouses) and their trade-offs.Experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and caching technologies (e.g., Redis) to build resilient and decoupled systems.Experience working in a product-based company.Familiarity with other technologies such as Python, DBT, Snowflake, Tinybird/ClickHouse, MongoDB, DuckDB or PostgreSQL.Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, etc.Experience with TDD (Test-Driven Development) and trunk-based development.Experience in a start-up / scale-up.More About Clarity AIClarity AI’s Founder and CEO, Rebeca Minguela , is a successful entrepreneur who has been recognised by prestigious institutions like the World Economic Forum as one of the most distinguished leaders under 40.The leadership team has an international presence and is composed of professionals from leading tech, consulting, and banking firms, entrepreneurs, PhDs from top research institutions, and MBA graduates from top business schools.AwardsThe Forrester New Wave – ESG Ratings, Data, and Analytics – Leaders for Investment Week – Best Sustainable Investment Research & Ratings Provider 2023Fast Company – Most Innovative Companies 2023European Commission – EU Seal of Excellence 2020World Economic Forum – Technology Pioneer 2020Clarity AI believes diversity, inclusion, and belonging are essential for creating an innovative and successful workplace.
