About the Role:

Casualty Underwriter at AXA XL is responsible for providing innovative and bespoke underwriting services to clients. This involves working with a wide range of clients to develop and manage underwriting strategies, monitor aggregate exposure, and maintain awareness of all claims advised.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite, manage, and service a renewal book and produce new business in accordance with business unit goals and aligned with local and group underwriting guidelines.
  • Develop and manage underwriting strategies for both renewals and targets within your portfolio of accounts, including knowledge of the current penetration by product, cross-marketing penetration, and specific plans to increase company share.
  • Analyze and evaluate risks, showing technical consistency.
  • Build and enhance relationships with brokers and clients, identifying and establishing new distribution relationships.
  • Maintain expertise with products, services, priorities, and targeted markets.
  • Maintain awareness of all claims advised, supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
  • Identify and drive new product development opportunities, effectively cross-marketing with other AXA XL lines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business Administration, or Engineering.
  • Some years of experience in underwriting, policy development, and broker management in Liability, with experience in corporate segment valued.
  • Good market and industry knowledge, with valued knowledge of the Portuguese Market.
  • Ability to understand stakeholders' needs and concerns, identifying points of agreement and efficiently managing interactions with other parties involved.
  • Knowledge of selling and negotiation techniques, adapting to the customer's situation, needs, and behavior.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team with colleagues of different seniorities and expertise to achieve collective goals.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
