Casualty Underwriting Role

AXA XL is seeking a skilled Casualty Underwriter to join our team in Madrid, Spain. As a Casualty Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business for a range of clients across Spain and Portugal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring that risks are accurately assessed and managed within agreed limits.
  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve business unit goals and align with local and group underwriting guidelines.
  • Analyze and evaluate risks, ensuring technical consistency and accuracy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, identifying new business opportunities and enhancing existing relationships.
  • Maintain expertise with AXA XL products, services, and priorities, as well as targeted markets.
  • Support the settlement of claims, maintaining awareness of all claims advised.
  • Identify and drive new product development opportunities, effectively cross-marketing with other AXA XL lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business Administration, or Engineering.
  • Good English command.
  • Several years of experience in underwriting, policy development, and broker management in Liability, with a focus on the corporate segment.
  • Good market and industry knowledge, with a valued understanding of the Portuguese market.
  • Ability to understand stakeholders' needs and concerns, identifying points of agreement and efficiently managing interactions with other parties.
  • Knowledge of selling and negotiation techniques, with the ability to adapt to customers' situations, needs, and behavior.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to work in a team with colleagues of different seniorities and expertise.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
