Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and train team members with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Own the performance and career management of the team.
- Ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of project commitments.
- Work in an agile engineering team writing maintainable and scalable code.
- Analyse, design, develop, and test software components for one of the largest digital assessment providers in the world.
- Implement designs following Pearson coding standards and industry best practices.
- Create testable code and implement automated unit, integration, and functional tests.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design, develop, test, and launch impactful software.
- Independently clarify technical requirements and assess development estimates.
- Review the code of other team members and provide constructive feedback.
- Monitor performance indicators of applications and make continuous improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent technology discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Software Engineering with at least 2 years in leading engineering teams.
- Experience developing complex software systems delivered to customers.
- Extensive professional software development experience in an Agile environment.
- Proven track record of experience with customer-facing Web Application design/development.
- A high-quality bar; unit testing, code reviews, test automation tools, continuous integration & deployment.
- Experience using AWS technologies at scale in a production environment.
- Knowledge of application servers, SOA, automation tools, and build tools.
- Experience with HTTP/2, PWA, Serverless, Microservices, CI/CD, and cross-platform development.
- Strong business and technical vision.
