Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Director to lead our animation studio's technical development and support team. As a Technical Director, you will be responsible for guiding the team in building innovative tools and solutions for feature film production, leveraging your expertise in Python and experience with Maya, Houdini, and Nuke.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with artists and production management to develop and refine tools and processes for feature film production.
  • Partner with engineers to iterate, debug, document, and refine tools and processes.
  • Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day technical issues and provide support to artists.
  • Report on the status of technical development projects, tool performance, production operations, and support statuses.
  • Continuously evaluate production's user experiences, satisfaction, and level of understanding to identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with current artistic methodologies and technology trends to inform the development of a stronger creative and technical environment.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to team members to support their artistic and professional growth.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in the VFX or animation industries.
  • 1+ year of experience in the animation industry.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep understanding of 3D animated film production pipelines and workflows.
  • Expertise in Python and experience building tools for Maya, Houdini, and Nuke.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
