About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Data Steward to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. As a Research Data Steward, you will play a crucial role in supporting our multidisciplinary researchers in managing and utilizing scientific data management tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and advise on the management and usability of scientific data management tools.
  • Ensure data transferred from and to the BSC meets standards regarding formats, security, and data protection.
  • Contribute to adopt FAIR Data principles across existing and future research projects.
  • Contribute to maintain the BSC scientific data catalogues.
  • Work with the BSC DM team to implement standards and DM methodologies.
  • Collaborate with other DM groups at European and International levels on research data management.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Computer Science or a related field. MSc in Information Systems, Data Management, or similar disciplines is highly desirable.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in research data management. Knowledge of FAIR principles and Open Science topics. Experience with data management plans (DMPs) and data management tools. Experience integrating data tools, including workflow management systems. Practical knowledge of OpenStack as a cloud-based solution. Solid understanding of Linux environments and Shell scripting.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience: Familiarity with AI and ML algorithms is a plus. Knowledge of data storage, transfer, and data sharing strategies. Written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.

Working Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Operations Department.
  • Full-time contract (37.5h/week), flexible working hours, private health insurance.
  • Duration: 4 years.
  • 23 paid vacation days plus additional holidays.
  • Salary: 40,000.00€.
  • Starting date: ASAP.
