Underwriting at AIG

AIG's underwriters play a critical role in developing insurance solutions that address the unique needs of companies and individuals. They work closely with brokers, identifying cross-selling opportunities and driving sales processes for new products.

The Role

We are seeking a Commercial Property Associate Underwriter to join our team. The successful candidate will participate in underwriting assigned risks, develop relationships with brokers, and identify opportunities for growth and expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in underwriting assigned risks and develop relationships with brokers
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities with different lines of business
  • Drive sales process on new products and assist the Front Desk Unit/Customer Service Group
  • Maintain a list of target accounts and generate submissions to meet new business targets
  • Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, procedures, and techniques

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in insurance, preferably in property/energy/construction business
  • Engineering degree (preferred), Law, Business Administration, or Economics university degree
  • Fluent English skills (written and spoken)
  • Outgoing and entrepreneurial personality
  • Result-driven with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Negotiating, communications, and presentations skills
  • Strong analysis and organizational skills
  • Confident knowledge of systems and PC applications, especially utilizing spreadsheets
