Job Summary

The R&D Verification Engineer II plays a crucial role in the Mechanical Business Unit, ensuring the quality and functionality of ANSYS applications such as LS-DYNA. This position assesses how well the product meets customer needs, both in terms of functionality and usability, and ensures that product requirements and quality standards are satisfied.

Key Responsibilities

Specify and write test cases, create, modify, and update existing tests, write and maintain test scripts. Perform functional, application, regression, and performance testing in manual and/or automated test environments and investigate possible causes of problems. Create test plans, participate in defect management, and testing metrics. Apply standard techniques and procedures and comply with the company's overall development and testing processes.

Work Environment

Work in a variety of computing environments: Linux, Windows, Virtual, Compute Clusters, Cloud. Test products at all levels: Workflow, Unit, Application, Performance. Work closely with other members of the product creation team and communicate with technical support specialists on product issues. Coordinate with other teams to address cross-team dependencies.

Requirements

BS in mechanical or civil or structural engineering with 2 years of experience, or MS with no experience. Strong knowledge of structural and computational mechanics. Experience and/or academic exposure with FEA and CAE tools with knowledge of FE methods. Proficient in one or more programming or scripting languages: Python, C++, C#, Jscript, Perl. Technical knowledge and experience with explicit dynamics, structural dynamics, and numerical methods is desired. Experience in a large-scale commercial software testing and verification environment. PhD degree will be considered. Strong programming skills are highly desirable. Experience with ANSYS structural mechanics products, LS-DYNA, AUTODYN, Explicit would be a clear advantage. Experience with both LINUX and Windows platforms preferred. Competent in the use of general office software applications such as mail tools, document editors, spreadsheets, and databases. A thorough and careful approach to work; close attention to details and quality; strong organizational skills. Ability to establish good working relationships with Development, Testing, and Support staff. Excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language. Able to troubleshoot by simplifying complex systems, debugging, and finding root causes. Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
