Senior Real-Time Software Engineer for Satellite Navigation Systems

We are expanding our teams in the Space sector at GMV to work on cutting-edge Satellite Navigation Systems projects. Participate in the OSPF project, which is a central element of the Galileo mission chain. The objective of the OSPF is to develop navigation solutions for the Galileo positioning service.

As a member of the RTMC team, one of the OSPF sub-elements, you will be responsible for the IT parts of the element, such as process synchronization and real-time management, input and output data management, system scheduler definition and maintenance, operability and configuration of the system, and hardware or virtualized platform and operating system management.

We seek an engineer with solid knowledge of IT and telecommunications to join the OSPF team to perform analysis, development, validation, verification, and documentation tasks. Strong analytical skills, code development experience, and the ability to analyze existing code for maintenance are required. Good teamwork skills, communication skills, initiative, autonomy, careful and efficient work, ability to adapt to different development environments and methodologies, and a desire to work on complex projects are also necessary.

Candidate's Duties:

  • Manage process synchronization (threads, signals, semaphores, shared memory) and ensure real-time processing.
  • Manage input and output data, including format transformation and encoding.
  • Define and maintain the system scheduler.
  • Operate and configure the system (SNMP, FTP, commanding, etc.).
  • Manage the hardware and operating system (both ad-hoc real-time).
  • Verify and validate the OSPF version deployed, performing unit, integrated, and system tests, as well as documenting the results.
  • Optimize and adjust the system resources (CPU, RAM), monitoring usage and applying appropriate measures.
  • As part of one of the evolutions currently underway: Analysis of requirements and source code, adaptation, migration, verification, optimization, and documentation of the system from a specific hardware and operating system to a standard solution based on VMware and Linux.

Requirements analysis and management, design of developments, impact analysis, integration, unit testing, justification and documentation of source code changes or new functions developed, verification and validation of software.

We are looking for engineers with experience and interest in software development, the space sector, and satellite navigation systems. With experience and/or knowledge of:

  • C programming (preferably at low level).
  • Knowledge of operating systems (semaphores, shared memory, processes, threads, system calls, sockets, networks, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Linux.
  • Knowledge of VMware and virtualized systems.
  • Accurate and justified documentation of SW changes according to specific standards and procedures.

  • A high degree of commitment and responsibility with meeting deadlines.
