**Job Overview**

Rijk Zwaan Ibérica, Sa is seeking a highly skilled Squash Variety Developer to join our team in El Ejido, Spain.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new squash varieties for various market segments worldwide. This involves working closely with market specialists to identify and create innovative traits, disease resistances, and fruit quality characteristics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating crop-related processes such as seed logistics, crossing, marker-assisted selection (MAS), phenotyping, and administrative tasks.
  • Improving existing processes and implementing the latest technology developments.
  • Designing and evaluating variety trials globally, both in our stations and with clients.
  • Taking part in strategic discussions regarding the breeding program.

We are looking for a proactive, creative, flexible, and solution-oriented individual who can work effectively in a team environment. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills. Fluency in English is mandatory, and Spanish language proficiency is also required.

In addition to your technical skills, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in horticulture, agriculture, applied biology, or plant breeding.
  • A good level of English and Spanish languages.
  • Previous experience in plant breeding is an advantage.
