Main Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at Alight. As a key member of our payroll team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our clients and ensuring the successful delivery of payrolls.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting managers with client engagement to ensure accurate and timely information
  • Providing guidance and support for implementations and go-lives
  • Offering daily functional support to teams to ensure the successful delivery of payrolls
  • Maintaining the Client Solution workbook
  • Updating, maintaining, and enforcing Defined Work Instructions (DWIs) and other process documentation
  • Ensuring and signing off system maintenance testing
  • Reviewing the Statement of Works before sharing with clients to ensure its fit for purpose
  • Resolving technical and functional issues escalated from the team and ensuring all system issues and defects are reported correctly
  • Working with operational management, transformation, and products to implement automation, innovation, and continuous improvement programs
  • Managing the legislation roadmap and ensuring the team is upskilled in upcoming changes and processes are updated where needed
  • Supporting year-end activities
  • Recognizing and dealing appropriately with sensitive and confidential information
  • Identifying upsell opportunities
  • Supporting management with the resolution of client escalations and lessons learned
  • Upskilling and developing team members through training delivery and coaching
  • Ensuring adherence to ALIGHT Security Standards
  • Completing time recording accurately and on time
  • Contributing to team meetings and raising any issues immediately to the Operations Manager
  • Staying up-to-date with all ALIGHT HR announcements and communications
  • Building good relationships with all lines of business where appropriate
  • Participating in projects and activities as needed and assigned
Key Criteria to Monitor Performance

Your performance will be measured against the following key criteria:

  • Adherence to all Security and Compliance procedures
  • 100% attainment of customer SLA agreements
  • Adherence to quality standards
  • Adoption of innovation initiatives
  • Reduction of client escalations through knowledge transfer to both the client and payroll team
  • Demonstration of professionalism and responsible behavior
Required Experience

We are looking for a candidate with the following experience and qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of various inputs and outputs such as third-party interfaces, timekeeping, tax filing and compliance, benefits, and other key areas that integrate with payroll
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Flexibility to support a global and fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Self-motivation and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment, as well as independently while adhering to processes and procedures
Education and Training

The ideal candidate will have:

  • BA/BS in a business-related field such as Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience administering payroll in an HR consulting, HR outsourcing, or corporate environment
  • Expert knowledge of payroll processes, practices, and associated legislation
