The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Director to join our team in Madrid, Spain. This role will be responsible for delivering strategic branded and unbranded external communication programs for Gilead's virology area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent Public Affairs internally and externally with various stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement new TA communications strategies in alignment with global direction and local market input.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional colleagues to ensure alignment and collaboration in strategic priorities and messaging.
  • Provide leadership and support for the implementation of in-market PR activities.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with external organizations, media, and other influential organizations.
  • Prepare communications materials, including strategic programs, key messages, Q&A documents, press releases, and presentations.
  • Respond to media requests and coordinate interviews with Gilead spokespeople and opinion leader spokespeople.
  • Manage issues and mitigate risks.
  • Understand regulatory frameworks and manage approvals and interactions with review teams.
Requirements
  • Market-level or pan-EU experience in product PR, media, and advocacy.
  • Ability to understand and accurately communicate complex science.
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations, issues management, and knowledge of healthcare and industry media trends.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and principles specific to communications for a publicly-traded biopharmaceutical company.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact with senior management and high-profile experts.
  • Ability to give formal presentations to internal and external audiences.
