Job Opportunity: Postdoctoral Researcher in Battery Management

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of battery management. The successful candidate will work on a research project coordinated by the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) to advance the batteries field further and contribute to sustainable energy technologies development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement AI-based techniques for the battery management system.
  • Analyze data and connect it to digital twins.
  • Explore physics-based approaches using machine learning and reduced-order modeling.
  • Couple with HPC solvers.
  • Optimize accuracy and efficiency of these AI approaches to achieve project KPIs.
  • Participate in project meetings.
  • Validate numerical results with experimental data.
  • Interact with other BSC researchers and project partners.
Requirements
  • Education: A Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as computational mechanics or applied mathematics.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: Deep knowledge of machine learning methods, high knowledge of deep data structures, and good programming skills in Python.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience: Good programming skills in other languages, good knowledge of reinforcement learning libraries.
  • Competences: Strong analytical skills, fluent English, ability to work independently and within a team, and good communication and teamwork skills.
Conditions
  • The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department.
  • We offer a full-time contract, a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, an extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and support to the relocation procedures.
  • Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement.
  • Salary: We offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona.
  • Starting date: 01/09/2023.
