Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Strategist to join our team at Teenage Helpline. This role will be responsible for developing and executing our communications strategy, leading a team of communications volunteers, and ensuring the Charity's messages reach key stakeholders effectively.

Taken from our growing strong tight-knit community, passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. Our services primarily offer a peer-support network to young people across the UK, allowing them to access a peer mentor who is of a similar age to them and someone they feel more comfortable speaking with.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in communications strategy development and execution, exceptional leadership skills, and experience working with diverse teams. You will lead a team of ambitious volunteers responsible for communicating with all key stakeholders, both internally and externally, about our Charity and its activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and executing our communications strategy, taking into account various channels to share information about our activities.
  • Reviewing our outreach and channels used for communications – leading on the delivery of content and engagement that will enable us to promote our services across audiences.
  • Contributing to social content and development, delivery of template letters to engage with potential partners, press releases, looking for opportunities to promote our work, supervising internal communications, and developing campaign topics we can use as our 'niche'.
  • Maintaining a forward plan of activity and content at least six months in advance.
  • Recruiting, designing, and leading a team of communications volunteers across various areas, ensuring that they have the right coaching and guidance to succeed.
  • Holding combined responsibility for all campaigns in conjunction with the head of marketing, ensuring that they promote the Charity in the right way and maintain a consistent approach.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 5 years experience in a Communications role with prior experience in strategy development and execution.
  • Exceptional leadership, business, and interpersonal proficiency.
  • Communications experience across audiences and channels.
  • Prior managerial experience.
  • Ability to set business targets, timelines, plans, and financial targets.
  • Ability to stimulate and motivate employees, teams, and departments.
  • Demonstrate a sound ability to network, negotiate, and lead.
  • Demonstrate a sound ability to be successful, self-directed, flexible, and tactical in the field of communications.
  • Excellent computer and technology skills.
  • Be a visionary and inspirational leader and pioneer the organization from the top.
  • Demonstrate sound communication and presentation skills.
