We are seeking a highly experienced professional to join our team as a BESS Project Development Director.
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Energy Storage Strategy: Lead the formulation and execution of the company's energy storage strategy across all operational territories, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Project Origination and Analysis: Provide strategic support to the development team in identifying project origination opportunities and closely collaborate with the Operations Department to conduct comprehensive analyses of utility-scale storage projects.
- Storage System Design and Configuration: Conceptualize and configure storage systems, meticulously assessing design specifications and evaluating a spectrum of technological options to maximize efficiency.
- Project Coordination and Management: Facilitate smooth coordination among multidisciplinary teams, navigating complex interconnection requirements, market dynamics, and project execution complexities.
- Project Budgeting and Scheduling: Oversee meticulous management of project budgets, timelines, and deliverables, fostering strong relationships with suppliers and procurement processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Interact with key stakeholders such as Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to optimize network routes and facilitate complex connections.
- Tender Package Development: Drive the development of tender packages and draft detailed technical specifications to streamline the BESS component procurement process.
- Project Risk Management: Maintain strict project schedules, ensuring milestone compliance and proactively managing the storage procurement process to mitigate risks and optimize outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Renewable Energy Experience: At least 15 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a proven track record of successful renewable energy project development from inception to commercial operation.
- Energy Storage Expertise: A distinguished background in energy storage strategy and project management, with extensive experience in renewable energy project development and a nuanced understanding of BESS projects.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrated proficiency in navigating regulatory frameworks and leveraging deep knowledge of specific Spanish regulations to drive project development initiatives.
- Leadership and Communication: Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset, backed by a proactive approach to problem-solving and an unwavering commitment to sustainability.
- Leadership Experience: A history of leadership in multinational environments, characterized by a strong ability to inspire and motivate teams toward shared goals.
- Education: Bachelor's degree with an MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the storage sector and specific Spanish regulations.
