Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Director to join our team in Madrid. As a Public Affairs Director, you will be responsible for delivering strategic branded and unbranded external communication programs for Gilead's virology area.
Key Responsibilities- Represent Public Affairs internally as part of the cross-functional team and externally with a variety of different stakeholders.
- Set new TA communications strategy for the market in alignment with global direction and local market input.
- Coordinate with cross-functional colleagues to ensure alignment and collaboration in strategic priorities and messaging across different stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and support for the implementation of in-market PR activities.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with a wide variety of external organizations and professionals, media, and other influential organizations in those TAs.
- Prepare communications materials, including strategic programs, key messages, Q&A documents, press releases, presentations, etc.
- Respond to media requests and coordinate interviews with Gilead spokespeople and opinion leader spokespeople as appropriate.
- Issue mitigation and management.
- Understand the regulatory frameworks in the market and ability to manage approvals and interactions with the review team.
- Market level or pan-EU experience in product PR, media, and advocacy.
- Ability to understand and accurately communicate complex science.
- Demonstrated experience in media relations (traditional and social), issues management; knowledge of healthcare and industry media and reporting trends.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and principles specific to communications for a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company.
- Experience on the pharma sector will be welcomed although is not essential.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience managing multiple projects (timelines, budgets, priorities) simultaneously; flexibility and results-oriented focus are essential.
- Ability to interact with senior management and high-profile experts appropriately, with confidence and ease.
- Ability to give formal presentations to internal and external audiences of various sizes.
- Experience working successfully with patient organizations.
- Fluency in English as well as the local market's language.
Typically requires a BA degree in communications, liberal arts, business, or science-oriented field (or International Equivalent) proven relevant experience, which includes solid healthcare public relations experience.
