Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled Geographic Information System Specialist to join our team in Madrid, Spain. As a key member of our Digital Management division, you will play a critical role in designing and maintaining robust enterprise Geodatabases using the ESRI platform.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • **Requirements Gathering**: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their spatial data needs and requirements for building on-premises and public-facing GeoDatabases.
  • **Database Design**: Design the structure of the GeoDatabase, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
  • **Data Modeling**: Develop data models that reflect the client's requirements, ensuring that spatial data is organized and stored efficiently.
  • **Data Migration**: Coordinate the auditing and migration of existing spatial data into the client's enterprise GeoDatabase.
  • **GeoDatabase Administration**: Configure and administer the client's GeoDatabase, ensuring optimal functionality and security.
  • **Metadata Management**: Establish metadata standards and documentation procedures for the GeoDatabase.
  • **Quality Assurance**: Implement quality assurance processes to validate the accuracy of spatial data.
  • **Training and Support**: Provide training and support to users on how to access and update spatial data.
  • **Integration**: Integrate the GeoDatabases with other client's enterprise systems and applications.
  • **Spatial Analysis**: Perform spatial analysis tasks using ESRI tools to support decision-making.
  • **Documentation**: Document all aspects of the client's enterprise GeoDatabase design and maintenance.
  • **Continuous Improvement**: Stay up-to-date with the latest ESRI technologies to continuously improve the client's spatial data infrastructure.

**Requirements**

  • **Language**: Highly proficient in spoken and written English, with excellent command (Level C1 Advanced).
  • **Experience**: 10+ years of hands-on experience working with GIS software, particularly the ESRI suite of products.
  • **Database Design**: Demonstrated experience in designing and managing enterprise GeoDatabases using ESRI technologies.
  • **Database Management**: Proficiency in database management systems (DBMS), such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or IBM Db2.
  • **Spatial Data Formats**: Strong understanding of spatial data formats and GIS data standards.
  • **SQL and Database Querying**: Proficiency in SQL and database querying languages.
  • **ETL Processes**: Familiarity with ETL processes for data migration.
  • **Geospatial Web Services**: Experience with geospatial web services.
  • **Interpersonal Skills**: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
  • **Project Management**: Experience in project management methodologies for planning and documenting GIS database projects.
  • **Consultancy Background**: Familiarity with other GIS software and open-source tools.
