Transforming Software Excellence at Roche

As the Strategic Programs Leader for Software Excellence, you will play a critical role in driving the transformation of our global Architecture & Software Engineering (A&SE) function.

Role Purpose

You will lead and execute a comprehensive program to enhance the maturity, engagement, and engineering excellence of our A&SE function, aligning with our organizational vision. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the Chief Software Engineer and cross-functional leaders to plan and execute the software excellence transformation of the A&SE organization.
  • Leading the transformation of thousands of developers and their solutions into a first-class engineering team.
  • Establishing and nurturing thriving communities-of-practice across the engineering organization.
  • Advocating for open and inner source practices and metrics within the engineering community.
  • Establishing and continuously improving the tools and processes for an effective, self-serve Developer Experience.
  • Organizing internal conferences, coordinating engagement at external conferences, and developing a global program for engaging with the engineering community.
  • Building a culture of innovation, positioning engineers as partners rather than service providers, and driving programs that connect engineers more deeply with the market, buyers (customers), users, and patients.
  • Communicating software engineering excellence metrics to engineering teams and senior leadership.

International travel up to 20% required.

Your Profile

We are seeking a proven track record of planning and executing engineering excellence transformation programs impacting 1000+ engineers globally. You should have a strong ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders across a complex organization. Excellent communication skills are essential, with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels, from entry-level engineers to senior executives. An intrapreneurial mindset with the ability to foster agile organizations in a global corporate environment is also required.
