PhD Researcher: Advanced Battery Degradation Modeling

About the Position

CIC energiGUNE is seeking a highly skilled PhD researcher to join our team and contribute to the development of advanced battery degradation modeling techniques. The successful candidate will work closely with our research group to investigate and model degradation mechanisms in commercial sodium-ion batteries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct experiments to study the ageing mechanisms in commercial sodium-ion batteries.
  • Analyze experimental data to identify key degradation pathways in anodes, cathodes, and electrolytes.
  • Develop and implement computational models to simulate ageing processes.
  • Collaborate with team members and external partners to validate findings.
  • Present research findings at conferences and publish results in high-impact scientific journals.
  • Contribute to the overall research activities of the department and participate in group meetings.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree (or equivalent that entitles to join a Doctoral Program) in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong background in electrochemistry, battery technology, and materials characterization techniques.
  • Experience in computational modelling and simulation of electrochemical systems is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
