Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioprospecting and Engineering of Enzymes and Proteins

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) in the Life Sciences Department. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and application of novel methods combining AI language models with atomistic molecular modeling for advancing in the conditions-specific bioprospecting and engineering of enzymes and proteins.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for writing research projects, publishing research findings, and participating in technical meetings with internal and external collaborators. They will also supervise junior researchers and provide mentorship in their career path. Additionally, they will liaise with BSC support departments when necessary as responsible person of specific projects.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in computational biology, chemistry, bioinformatics, physics, machine learning, or a related field. They should have a proven excellent scientific publication track record in the same or a related area, as well as at least 2-3 years' of postdoctoral experience in the same or in a related area. They should also have knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments, proficiency in Python, R, or equivalent programming languages, and proficiency in atomistic molecular modeling.
Additional Requirements:
The candidate should have experience in working with high performance computing environments, a background or interest in life sciences, and fluency in English. Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous. The successful candidate will have the capacity to explore new research lines, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work both independently, within a team, and in a multi-cultural environment.
Working Conditions:
The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department. We offer a full-time contract (37 hours per week).
