Job Summary
The GIS Support Specialist will be responsible for delivering Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and developing GIS applications, services, and products for Schlaeger Kunststofftechnik GmbH. This role will involve collecting and evaluating geographic data, designing and maintaining spatial databases, and producing web map services and applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and evaluate geographic data, including vector, raster, and thematic data.
- Design and develop spatial databases and data management tools.
- Produce and maintain web map services and applications.
- Conduct spatial and terrain analysis studies and predict the effects of terrain, weather, and situations on operations.
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance of all products generated and disseminated by the section.
- Conduct satellite imagery processing for remote sensing projects and tasks.
- Plan and oversee field surveys for geospatial data collection and truth verification.
- Ensure the archiving of geographic data and maintaining the mission's geo database system.
- Ensure data security, data acquisition, and data sharing policies are in place.
- Assist in the incorporation of innovative technologies in geospatial and remote sensing products and services.
Requirements
- Certificate in a relevant discipline (essential).
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable relevant Information Technology experience (essential).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in any country (essential).
- At least 3 years working experience in GIS, remote sensing, and image analysis.
- Excellent practical and theoretical geospatial information related skills.
- Experience in using remote sensing software such as ERDAS Imagine, ERDAS LPS, etc.
- Experience in using open source GIS software and ArcGIS (desktop, server, and online applications).
- Experience in spatial database management.
- Fluency in English, both written and oral, is required.
- Driving license suitable to drive 4 X 4 vehicles.
