Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Sustainability Expert to join our team at HITACHI ENERGY ITALY S.P.A. as a Global Social Sustainability Due Diligence Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a management system to ensure human and environmental due diligence processes are in place along the business and value chain.
  • Operationalize Human Rights Due Diligence scope and requirements, including management system development, sustainability strategy, reporting, data collection and analysis, engagement and communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources function to ensure relevant data for the sustainability strategy and reporting are available and structured as per international standards.
  • Support business in tailoring company initiatives in relation to diversity, inclusion, equity, to BU needs, down to the factory and project level.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Sustainability, Business Administration, Social science, Geography, International/ Socio-economic Development, Law,...).
  • At least 3 years Experience in Human Rights or Social Performance in business/industry environment including Social sustainability topics such as modern slavery, living wage methodologies, labour and working conditions, gender, diversity & inclusion, Just Transition and responsible sourcing.
  • Human Rights policies and implementation guidance, working in the intersection of business and human rights, work cross functionally across departments to include social sustainability and human rights in operations.

Competence and Skills

  • Understanding of relevant international Safeguards and Standards, i.e. UN Guiding Principles, OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, etc.
  • Business acumen and project management skills.
  • Comfort with working in ambiguity and an ability to structure issues and develop solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and communication (both verbal and written) skills.
  • Proven ability to work cross-culturally in an international working environment.
  • Strong collaborator, networking and relationship management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (qualitative and quantitative aspects).
  • Experience with using data and technology to solve social performance challenges.
  • Fluent in English.
