Competitive salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year.

Job Description

As a Control Systems Software Engineer at Nordex Group, you will be responsible for developing and implementing control technology functions for wind turbines. Your primary focus will be on the operational control of wind turbines and the closed-loop controller. You will work closely with various departments to ensure the seamless integration of software functions according to requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement control technology functions for wind turbines, focusing on operational control and closed-loop control.
  • Implement software functions according to requirements on programmable logic controllers (PLCs) using Model-Based-Design and code generation approaches.
  • Define test and acceptance criteria for the qualification of closed-loop control of wind turbines.
  • Ensure quality assurance through software tests on HiL setups in the software laboratory and on-site at wind turbines.
  • Create related software documentation.
  • Closely collaborate with various departments in an international environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have:

Education:

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical, Control, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.

Experience:

  • Good experience in PLC software development according to Matlab/Simulink is mandatory.
  • IEC61131 is a plus.
  • Desirable skills in C/C++, Python, Git, SVN, and other programming languages.
  • Good knowledge of industrial communications protocols (Profinet, ModBus TCP, CAN).
  • Good knowledge of control design techniques (Robust Control, Kalman Filters).
  • Desirable experience in Predictive Control, Fault-Tolerant Control, System Identification, and Machine Learning Algorithms.
  • Desirable experience with Embedded Coding Generation and RT systems for control applications.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ideal skills in German or Spanish.
  • Independent, reliable, and systematic/structured work approach.
  • Strong communication and team skills, paired with intercultural competence.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience.
  • Availability to travel.
