Senior Network Engineer

The IMDEA Software Institute is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team in charge of supporting, managing, and planning new deployments in REDIMadrid and an emerging quantum communication infrastructure (MadQCI).
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate technical tasks to maintain the network in an optimal state of use, including establishing and maintaining router configurations and proactive management to prevent incidents and outages.
- Assess and implement network upgrades to ensure leading-edge services for the research community.
- Provide technical support to universities on network connections, using email, slack channels, and thematic workshops.
- Measure and plan IP and optical equipment needs for network connections and services.
- Develop and maintain network tools to monitor core networks.
- Implement security measures to mitigate denial of service attacks at the network perimeter.
- Coordinate with RedIRIS for network maintenance and expansion.
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Telecommunications or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience as a network engineer, with at least 5 years in a service provider environment.
- Proven experience in managing IP networks (Juniper and Cisco) and optical communications (DWDM, CIENA, and ADVA).
- Proficiency in Routing Protocols (BGP4, PIM-SM, MP-BGP, MSDP, eVPN, L3VPN) and IP/MPLS networks.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, with excellent writing and communication skills.
- CCNP-SP or JNCIP-SP certification, with a preference for CCIE-SP or JNCIE-SP.
- Knowledge of SDN, Python, and Json.
- Experience with network monitoring tools (Grafana, Zabbix, optical tools).
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments, scripting languages, and automating tools.
