About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team at the IMDEA Software Institute. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to support our research and development activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement network architectures to meet the needs of our research teams
  • Manage and maintain our network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and other equipment
  • Develop and implement network security policies and procedures to protect our infrastructure from cyber threats
  • Collaborate with our research teams to understand their network requirements and provide technical support and guidance
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest network technologies and trends, and make recommendations for future network upgrades and improvements
Requirements
  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Telecommunications or a related field
  • At least 8 years of proven experience as a network engineer, with at least 5 years in a service provider environment
  • Proven experience in managing a telecommunication network in a service provider environment, including IP networks and optics communication
  • Proficient knowledge in Routing Protocols, IP/MPLS networks, and segment routing
  • Proven experience in writing technical requirements and participating in public tenders from the awarding authority side
  • Proven experience in security technologies in service provider environments, including anti-DDoS technologies and Firewall new generation
  • Fluent in English and Spanish speaking, writing, and reading
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in business development or equivalent in a company
  • CCNP-SP or JNCIP-SP and ideally CCIE-SP JNCIE-SP certificate
  • Knowledge in SDN in the service provider environment, Python, and Json
  • Knowledge in network monitoring tools, including Grafana and Zabbix
  • Knowledge in white boxes IP in service provider environment
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments, scripting languages, automating tools, data interchange formats, and familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and Virtual Machines administration
  • Knowledge in version control (GIT, SVN) and LaTeX typesetting
  • Knowledge in quantum communication cryptography
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure
  • Capable team player
