Salary and Benefits

The hourly rate for this role is $33.53 per hour, with shift allowances of 15% for afternoon shifts and 20% for night shifts. Penalty rates are also paid for weekend or overtime work. Additionally, full-time positions may be available for experienced employees, offering higher pay rates.

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Fire Assayer to work in our Fire Assay section at our Malaga facility. The successful candidate will utilize traditional fire assay techniques to extract precious metals from samples, including gold. Key responsibilities include accurately weighing samples, adding flux reagents, fusing mixtures in a high-temperature furnace, and conducting thorough inspections before laboratory testing.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of the assay process
  • Clear communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to perform procedures promptly and accurately
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines

  • Ability to thrive in a physically demanding, high-temperature work environment
  • Flexibility and reliability to meet the dynamic demands of the department

Becoming a Fire Assayer

This Casual position involves working a Monday to Friday rotating 8-hour shift, with 1 week each of Days, Nights, and Afternoons. Full training will be provided to support your development and career progression.
