Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to provide critical support as part of our dynamic PerkinElmer lab service team. The role is responsible for ensuring efficient operations within the customer lab space, allowing scientists to focus on their work. This is a fixed-term contract to cover a maternity leave through to March 2025.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage chemicals and reagents used by customers, including delivery, collection, inventory maintenance, and safety data sheets.
  • Raise and track purchases using customer-provided software, coordinate deliveries, and liaise with customers.
  • Prepare chemical and biological shipments (national and international) and perform specific tasks tailored to customer requirements.
  • Follow SOPs, protocols, and guidelines for required tasks and interact with colleagues to solve technical problems.
  • Maintain training and compliance in health and safety, security, environmental, and operational aspects of daily activities.
  • Provide and escalate continuous improvement initiatives to benefit ways of working.
Critical Skills
  • Attention to detail and understanding of the basic laboratory environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Basic experience with MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent customer service and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to critically review ways of working effectively.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, biology, or other relevant discipline.
  • High School Qualifications with proven experience in a laboratory environment or customer service environment.
Working Environment

The successful candidate must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment. The job pace may be fast, and job completion demands may be high. The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite.
