Kubernetes Engineer

Zurich Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Kubernetes Engineer to join our cross-national Cloud Transformation Team based in the Barcelona Engineering and Technology Delivery Centre.
As a Kubernetes Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the Business Unit with technological expertise, focusing on Kubernetes platforms to cover the entire application lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Cloud Incident Management: Provide support for Cloud incidents and problems, performing monitoring, profiling, and troubleshooting of existing solutions.
- OpenShift and Kubernetes Support: Provide support for OpenShift Containers Platform and Kubernetes incidents and problems, performing monitoring, profiling, and troubleshooting of existing solutions.
- Infrastructure Design and Maintenance: Design, implement, and maintain scalable OpenShift / Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Containerization and Deployment: Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and deploy them on OpenShift / Kubernetes.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize OpenShift / Kubernetes cluster performance, resource utilization, and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitoring and Logging: Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for OpenShift / Kubernetes environments.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure the security of OpenShift / Kubernetes clusters by following best practices and implementing security controls.
- Automation and Infrastructure as Code: Automate OpenShift / Kubernetes deployment and management processes using infrastructure as code tools.
- Staying Up-to-Date: Stay up to date with OpenShift / Kubernetes ecosystem developments and propose improvements.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with key stakeholders to understand their requirements, existing systems, and applications.
- Documentation and Solution Definition: Create technical documentation and implement a solution's definition.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with your teammates to continuously evolve the platform and ensure service excellence.
- Continuous Learning: Constantly learn about new technologies and apply those concepts to customer needs.
- Agile Development: Work in Agile mode to continuously develop the environment to fulfill the requirements from different stakeholders.
- Global Participation: Participate in Solution Strategy, innovation areas, and technology roadmap globally.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science.
- Experience: 1 year of experience with OpenShift and / or Kubernetes, Docker (preferentially OpenShift).
- Software Engineering: 1 year of experience with software engineering or software systems engineering in professional or academic environments.
- Programming Skills: 1 year of experience with programming, scripting, or mark-up languages, including Bash, Python, JSON, or YAML in professional or academic environments.
- Operating Systems: 1 year of experience with UNIX or Linux operating systems and command line interfaces administration in professional or academic environments.
- Windows Experience: 1 year of experience with Windows operating systems, MS-DOS, and / or Power Shell scripting in professional or academic environments.
- Version Control Systems: 1 year of experience with software version control systems, including Git preferred in professional or academic environments.
- Communication Skills: Team player with a positive attitude, strong communication (English verbal and written) & interpersonal skills.
- Technical Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical issues to technical and non-technical personnel.
- Agile Environment: Ability to work in a fast-changing, dynamic, and agile environment, including the ability to manage time and maintain an excellent work ethic.
- Language Skills: English B2.
- CentOS or RHEL Experience: Experience with CentOS or RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- IaC Experience: Experience with infrastructure as code tools, including Terraform, Helm, and Kustomize.
- Security Experience: Experience with security protocols and practices, including SSO, OAuth2, OpenID, and certificates.
- Monitoring and Logging: Ability to set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for Kubernetes clusters.
- Kubernetes Security: Understanding of Kubernetes security best practices, including RBAC, network, and pod security policies.
- Service Mesh Experience: Experience with service mesh technologies, including Istio.
- Serverless Computing: Knowledge of serverless computing frameworks, including Knative, AWS Lambda, and Azure Functions.
- Multi-Cloud Experience: Familiarity with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
- GitHub and Azure DevOps: Experience with GitHub and / or Azure DevOps.
- Agile Development Techniques: Experience with Agile development techniques.
- Troubleshooting and Analysis: Possession of excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills.
