About the Role
Roche Diagnostics is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Platform team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining our complex, enterprise-scale software systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Development: Design and develop the core software stack, ensuring it meets the needs of our business and is scalable for future growth.
- Infrastructure as Code: Build and maintain the necessary infrastructure as code to support our software development process end to end.
- Continuous Delivery and Monitoring: Facilitate the integration of our software stack with our existing CI/CD pipeline and contribute to its continuous improvement. Ensure continuous monitoring solutions cover all operations requirements.
- Process and Operations: Ensure all continuous delivery processes are aligned with operations and in place. Work proactively to establish a culture of continuous improvement for operations.
- Leadership and Evangelism: Lead by example, promoting technical excellence and a culture of support and compassion for individuals. Evangelize healthy DevOps software development and operations practices within the Roche Engineering Community.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the software industry.
- 2+ years of experience in contemporary platforms, including cloud, docker, Kubernetes, helm charts, and Kustomize.
- Experience automating using infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Packer, etc.).
- Hands-on automation operations using configuration management tools (Ansible, or Saltstack).
- Experience in CI/CD, internal tooling, and production operations (CI Tooling: Gitlab, Jenkins, SonarQube, Whitesource, Registry/Artifactory, etc.).
- CD Tooling: Helm, Argo CD, etc.
- Continuous Monitoring tooling: Prometheus, Grafana, Alert Manager, ElasticSearch.
- Hands-on System Administration experience with Unix-based systems, including system configuration and networking.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
Desirable Skills
- Experience deploying or managing large-scale distributed environments in Edge environments.
- Experience in Production Continuous Monitoring environments covering all modules of the platform and infrastructure (Software, Operating System, Networking, Hardware).
- Previous SRE experience is a big plus.
- Hands-on experience in other cloud providers (Azure, GCP, AliCloud).
- Scripting experience highly desired, using shell, python, ruby, or similar languages.
