Role Overview
As a vital member of the Cloud Security division, you will enhance the managed services, APIs, and expertise associated with Amazon Web Services. This team is instrumental in delivering Cloud Security Infrastructure products and services to Engineering Productivity teams and beyond within Ocado Technology.

Work Arrangement
This position is fully remote within countries where we maintain Development Centres, including the UK, Poland, Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, or Sweden.
Department Overview
The Engineering Productivity division is dedicated to providing tools and frameworks for engineering practices to enhance productivity and effectiveness across all software development teams at Ocado.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Managing, configuring, and operating a suite of security-related products deployed across numerous production environments.
- Examples include AWS WAF, AWS Guard Duty, AWS Inspector, AWS IAM, AWS Firewall Manager, AWS CloudTrail, among others.
- Identifying vulnerabilities in our security posture and documenting them in well-articulated RFCs for Product Management consideration.
- Researching and implementing top-tier Perimeter Security Protection systems (e.g., IDS/IPS, WAF, DDoS Protection).
- Evaluating and integrating leading Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems to monitor logs for suspicious activities and generate alerts.
- Providing guidance, training, and mentorship to other infrastructure teams on enhancing our AWS Security posture, including resolving security-related support inquiries.
- Leading the planning and execution of Security Compliance policies (e.g., SOC-2, PCI) and certifications.
- Keeping abreast of advancements in security-related Cloud Technologies, including emerging trends, best practices, and widely adopted security strategies.
- Supporting production systems in addressing Security-related vulnerabilities as needed, including participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential qualifications include:
- Proficiency in one or more cybersecurity domains, such as threat detection, vulnerability management, security operations, encryption, boundary defense, authentication, and risk management.
- Familiarity with common attack vectors, OWASP Top 10, TTPs, and the Mitre ATT&CK framework.
- Proven experience with network and system security tools in the Cloud, including firewalls, Data Protection technologies, SIEM, intrusion detection and prevention systems, vulnerability scanning, and encryption.
- Competence in cloud engineering, with the ability to engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for cloud solutions on infrastructure platforms (AWS preferred).
- Capability to write, maintain, and test Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) using tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management, runtime environments, network systems, and database/storage technologies.
- Practical experience in enterprise-scale test-first software development (e.g., Python).
- Some exposure to Security compliance tools (e.g., AWS Config).
- A strong inclination towards automation, documentation, and maintaining a clear audit trail.
- Familiarity with common build tools, repositories, and CI/CD tooling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Qualifications
It would be advantageous to have experience in:
- Vulnerability Detection systems (e.g., AWS Security Hub, AWS Guard Duty, AWS Inspector, Cloud Trail, AWS Trusted Advisor).
- Cloud Infrastructure Protection strategies (e.g., WAF, AWS Shield, AWS Firewall Manager).
- Cloud Infrastructure Incident response methodologies.
- A proactive approach to setting technical direction, driving delivery, and fostering continuous improvement.
- Being a knowledgeable resource on Cloud Security topics, with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to share knowledge.
- Mentoring and coaching less experienced team members.
- A collaborative mindset, both within the team and across the organization.
- Familiarity with SCRUM or other Agile methodologies.
