CSL Vifor is currently looking for a Country Medical Director Iberia to be based at our office in Barcelona. As a global leader in nephrology, iron deficiency, and rare diseases, we are committed to improving patient outcomes through innovation and scientific excellence.

In this key leadership role, you will drive medical strategy, engage with key stakeholders, and ensure the highest standards of scientific and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Acts as local role model for all aspects of local Medical activities
  2. Develops and maintains up-to-date scientific and medical knowledge and expertise (TAs and products)
  3. Leads a highly motivated and well-trained Medical team, setting clear objectives for team members, including medical plans and key deliverables
  4. Counsels team members on key competencies and monitors performance, taking corrective action when necessary
  5. Bridges healthcare/clinical practice expertise, therapeutic area knowledge, medical insights, and understanding of the local compliance system to country senior leadership to guide strategic and operational planning and execution
  6. Ensures close collaboration with brand leads and market access to shape the brand strategy and support local/regional access plans/submissions
  7. Develops and implements all aspects of the annual country medical plan aligned with country strategies
  8. Shares local Medical insights and aligns local Medical planning and execution with HQ Medical teams
  9. Deploys Medical budget according to strategy
  10. Oversees local Medical budget planning and tracking
  11. Identifies, develops, and maintains effective engagement with external stakeholders (clinical and non-clinical) and professional organizations
  12. Builts positive working relationships with health authorities (healthcare policy shaping) and is deeply involved in access strategy development and implementation to ensure access
  13. Ensures the development of a local evidence generation plan and compliant implementation of data generation activities, providing medical leadership to Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS)
  14. Ensures compliant implementation of medical communication plans, e.g., disease awareness, medical education, and country congress activities
  15. Acting as company spokesperson for topics assigned by General Manager
  16. Advises country leadership team on field-based medical team deployment and proactively defines resource gaps, building a strong case for optimal resources when required or defining a strategy to bridge resource gaps
  17. Analyzes and utilizes activities of and insights from field-based medical teams through CRM
  18. Approves Local Key Information Documents (LKID) used by medical information to respond to medical inquiries
  19. Ensures compliance of Medical deliverables with local laws, regulations, & codes, and internal processes
  20. Ensures compliance of local Medical processes with internal global processes and guidance
  21. Ensures all medical and scientific information are provided, as required by local rules, laws, and regulations
  22. Medical governance (development, approval, and sign-off) of processes and local materials
