Position Overview at Wright Tree Service:

Job Title: Groundworker
Employment Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Supervisor: Crew Leader/General Foreperson

Key Responsibilities of a Groundworker:

• Operates chainsaws to trim and remove brush, logs, and larger tree stumps from ground level using gasoline-powered equipment.
• Responsible for loading and unloading vehicles with logs, stumps, and debris, as well as feeding brush into a wood chipper. Collects and transports brush to designated areas.
• Works in proximity to hazardous machinery and equipment.
• Endures high noise levels from machinery, chainsaws, and wood chippers while adhering to safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Exposed to varying weather conditions and natural elements, including plants, insects, and dust.
• May navigate uneven or rough terrain during work activities.
• Assists in enforcing safety measures for team members on-site.
• Ensures the safety of coworkers and the public by managing hazards in the work environment, coordinating with local authorities when necessary, and setting up safety barriers and warning signs.
• Applies herbicides and growth control products to stumps and brush as needed.
• Operates vehicles equipped with brush chippers or other related equipment.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Responsible for carrying and arranging tools and equipment at job sites.
• Performs maintenance on trucks, chippers, and other equipment, ensuring they are kept in proper working order and reporting any maintenance needs to the crew leader.
• Undertakes additional related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications for Groundworker:

• Must be capable of wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Ability to enter and exit vehicles multiple times throughout the day.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and snow.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding job-related instructions and information.
• Effective communication skills to interact with others and represent Wright Tree Service professionally.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.
• Willingness to work extended hours and overtime during emergencies, including weekends and holidays, and be available for call-out work.
• Competent in operating and maintaining all necessary tools and equipment.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Required to maintain a herbicide applicator or operator certification and license as mandated by Wright Tree Service and applicable laws.
• Must hold valid First-Aid and CPR certifications.
