Landscaping Technician

Position Overview: This role is integral to the operations at Wright Tree Service, focusing on the maintenance and care of trees and landscaping.

Job Title: Groundworker
Employment Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Reporting Structure: Reports to Crew Leader/General Foreperson

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate chainsaws for the cutting of brush, logs, and stumps from ground level using gasoline-powered equipment.
• Efficiently load and unload vehicles with logs, stumps, and debris, as well as manage brush disposal through chipping processes.
• Maintain safety protocols while working near hazardous machinery.
• Work in environments with high noise levels from machinery and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Adapt to various weather conditions, including exposure to nature and potential irritants.
• Navigate and perform tasks on uneven terrain.
• Assist in enforcing safety measures among team members.
• Ensure the safety of the public and coworkers by setting up barriers and warning signs when necessary.
• Apply herbicides and growth inhibitors to manage vegetation effectively.
• Operate trucks equipped with brush chippers or trailers.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Prepare and arrange tools and equipment at job sites.
• Conduct routine maintenance on trucks and equipment, reporting any issues to the crew leader.
• Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Capability to enter and exit vehicles multiple times throughout the day.
• Resilience to work in varying weather conditions.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding job-related instructions.
• Strong communication skills to represent Wright Tree Service professionally.
• Physical ability to lift and maneuver weights up to 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently.
• Willingness to work extended hours and respond to emergency situations.
• Competence in operating and maintaining necessary tools and equipment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Maintain required certifications for herbicide application as per local and federal regulations.
• Possess valid First-Aid and CPR certifications.
