Job Description

Ferrovial is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Grid Connection and Transmission Lines Technical Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of power generation projects, focusing on grid connections and transmission lines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance during project development, ensuring that grid transmission and connection factors are considered.
  • Offer advice and assessments on optimal project interconnection points to minimize curtailments, utilizing congestion management tools.
  • Define grid connections designs that reduce installation time and cost while maintaining or improving plant performance.
  • Develop and specify the best technical solutions based on asset requirements.
  • Conduct technical due diligence and risk assessments on grid connections.
  • Perform inspections for feasibility checks and alignment with project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with P-Q requirements at the Point of Interconnection (PoI).
  • Coordinate the preparation of technical documentation for transmission and/or connection projects.
  • Manage Technical Advisors and Consultants to support related activities.
  • Maintain relationships with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to support grid applications.
  • Lead and negotiate the development of EPC/ICP Contract Technical Appendices and Major Equipment Technical specifications with the Construction area.
  • Interact and support construction and business areas, serving as the main point of competence for grid connection and transmission lines.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of plants by providing grid expertise to Asset Managers and Operations teams.
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree associated with electrical power systems and/or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with power flow/voltage and stability simulations in DigSilent and PSSE, or similar, is highly valued.
  • Proven track record and experience in a similar role for more than 6 years.
  • Candidates with experience working directly for DNOs and/or other Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are preferred.
  • Familiarity with DNO and TSO standards.
  • Experience in the design and construction of High Voltage (HV) stations and power lines, both overhead and underground, is highly valued.
  • Good understanding of Grid Connection Agreements in Spain and US ISO.
  • Experience in projects in North America, Spain, and Australia is highly valued.
  • Ability to travel as needed for projects and opportunities.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills, strategic vision, and commercially astute.
  • Proactive, autonomous, flexible, and able to prioritize.
  • Anticipation capacity and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent English is a must (C1).
