About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Linux Security Technology Manager to join our team at Canonical. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of security technologies for Ubuntu, one of the world's most popular open-source operating systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical thought leadership for your team and others around Canonical, driving the development of secure and reliable software solutions.
  • Security Expertise: Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Linux security technologies, including kernel internals, Mandatory Access Control systems, and open-source security projects.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and sales to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of Canonical's security strategy, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement in the Linux security landscape.
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Exceptional software engineering skills, with a strong understanding of Linux kernel internals, security principles, and open-source development practices.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing or leading software engineering teams, with a proven track record of success in team leadership and development.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and sales.
