About the Role

The Billing Systems Engineer position at Canonical is an exciting opportunity for a skilled technologist to join our Commercial Systems team and contribute to the development of our internal billing system. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in delivering a consistent billing experience to our customers across all products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy distributed systems and APIs using Go or Python
  • Collaborate with colleagues on technical designs and code reviews to ensure high engineering standards
  • Deploy and operate services developed by the team, ensuring seamless integration with our Salesforce and other business systems
  • Seek opportunities to improve engineering and operations practices, driving continuous improvement and innovation

Requirements

  • Experience as a software developer in a high-level language, preferably Go or Python
  • Experience building, deploying, and operating distributed systems and APIs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with a diverse set of team members and stakeholders, remaining highly motivated, productive, and organized
  • Ability to travel to international destinations for one week at a time, approximately 2-4 times per year

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, or Stripe APIs
  • Experience in a business role such as sales, finance, or operations
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related engineering field
