About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriter A&H to join our team at AIG. As an Underwriter A&H, you will be responsible for evaluating new and renewal policies and endorsements against prescribed criteria to determine if risk qualifies for acceptance.

You will also be responsible for managing underwriting to achieve profitable growth, including underwriting new business, renewals, quotes, and other transactions. Additionally, you will prepare policy writing instructions and premium billings, analyze submissions for accuracy of policy issuance information from the underwriter and/or broker, and check/sign policies prior to release.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate new and renewal policies and endorsements against prescribed criteria to determine if risk qualifies for acceptance.
  • Manage underwriting to achieve profitable growth, including underwriting new business, renewals, quotes, and other transactions.
  • Prepare policy writing instructions and premium billings.
  • Analyze submissions for accuracy of policy issuance information from the underwriter and/or broker.
  • Check/sign policies prior to release.
  • Support Group underwriting to achieve profitable growth, including underwriting new business, renewals, quotes, and other transactions.
  • Establish and leverage strong relationships with Clients, Brokers, and Partners.
  • Communicate with producers, insureds, bureaus, etc. to ensure common understanding.
  • Assist the senior underwriter in the preparation of business, line reports, and agency analysis and completion of the Audit.
  • Participate in research projects involving identification and classification data.
  • Conduct Quality Control of issued policies and accurate file maintenance.
  • Review experience and classification.
  • Visit producers to establish effective relationships.
  • Establish and leverage strong relationships with Clients, Brokers, and Partners.
  • Able to internally engage with Local & Regional Leadership.
  • Integrator: Collaborate with multiple technical, functional, distribution, and client/broker management resources, local, regional, and global, across the wider business.
  • Build and maintain appropriate, strong, and effective business relationships with stakeholders.
  • Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity, and inclusion.
Requirements
  • Strong and relevant experience of product and local market experience, with underwriting assistance experience with individual insurance products.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Strong sales and negotiation background: ability to influence others to develop business, negotiate agreement, with a strong understanding of sales process, including pre-sale and post-sale requirements of the business.
  • Strong understanding of the local insurance broker community (Corporate, Medium, and Individual Brokers).
  • Analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Strong customer service ethic, with a sound understanding of the business processes.
  • Knowledge of key regulatory requirements.
  • Good risk analysis and technical skills.
  • Self-motivated and uses own initiative for both internal and external issues.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible approach and adapt rapidly to changing work environments.
  • Demonstrated success in using research, analytics, and testing methodologies to make business decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work across interdisciplinary teams and cultivating a network of productive relationships.
