Team Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Manager to join our Motor Recoveries team in Birmingham. As a key member of our Claims Solutions Group, you will be responsible for leading a team of Supervisors and lawyers, providing expert advice and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Direct line management of Supervisors and lawyers, including performance reviews, absence management, and induction of new team members.
- Cascading and communicating information to the team, supporting the Team Partners with the running of DRIVE and CONNECT team meetings.
- Motivating and engaging the team, overseeing the well-being of the workforce, and identifying and recognising positive performance and behaviours.
- Driving and improving financial performance of the team through effective management and support of Supervisors.
- Ensuring internal and external SLAs and KPIs are communicated, met or exceeded, and the work of the team is of the highest standard to exceed client expectations.
- Collective team achievement of agreed financial targets, ensuring prompt billing, timely bill production, and appropriate write off of WIP and chasing of outstanding debt.
- Ensuring that Supervisors are effectively managing, coaching, and technically supervising lawyers, carrying out daily whiteboard meetings, and sustaining the Op Ex way of working.
- Liaising closely with Operations Managers on any issues arising and the day-to-day management of billing, debt, WIP, unbilled disbursements, and credit balances.
- Ensuring any escalated risk or compliance issues are addressed, managed, and escalated to the relevant Client Relationship Partner, Team Partner/Associate, Head of Product, Head of Services, Operations Manager, and Practice Governance & Risk.
- Effective allocation of work amongst the team to meet the skills and technical knowledge of the individuals in the team, ensuring work is carried out profitably for the business and client.
- Responsibility for all recruitment activities within the team, apart from authorisation, working alongside the Recruitment Team and Operations Manager, and supported by the Supervisor.
- Implementing the supervisory process for both Supervisors and their lawyers, in line with the strategy agreed with the Team Partner and Operations Manager.
- Overall accountability for ensuring the Supervisors carry out their roles effectively, providing cover for the Supervisors during absence or supporting Supervisors who are developing into the role.
- Encouraging innovative ideas and ensuring that a culture of continuous improvement develops.
